A Boy & His Dog: Mini Session

Jackson reminded me at the start of this shoot that he had been in a bad mood the last time I had taken his photos (which, granted, was five years ago when he was just a little guy) but this time he was ready. And boy, he wasn’t kidding. He had so many ideas for good location spots and posing idea that I just let him wing it and the results speak for themselves.

I’m so lucky and thankful for repeat clients like Jackson and his mom Lauren. They were first in line to sign up for a session when I announced my return to the photography world and have stuck with me since the very beginning when I first started out. Lauren is a dog trainer who participates in bite work training with her Belgian Malinois, Elza. We like to start them off young in these parts for as you can see, Jackson has become quite the dog handler himself. He’s been learning training tips from his mom and has a close bond to both Elza and their newest rescue Emery but that’s not surprising since this kid has been involved in the animal rescue world since he was a baby!

I really loved getting back to my roots and spending time in the desert with this close-knit family. I can’t wait to see the memories they continue to make and you know I’ll be right there waiting with my camera ready!
